Source Code review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:24 (A review of Source Code)

Source Code is a great sci-fi movie which explores travels on time and parallels realities through a very simple premise, but never ceasing to be puzzling and intriguing. The scriptwriter, Ben Ripley, doesn't make many ceremonies to quickly explore the pretext of the repetition of the narrative, discovering the mechanisms of the pump or by placing the characters off the train. Some parallel actions, such as the gun, end up having less potential, but they don't undermine the progress of the narrative. Too bad the ending is sugar water, that need to deliver a happy ending to leave the viewer satisfied at the end, which is not always necessary. It is still an above well average film, engaging, dynamic and efficient.

Hanna review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:24 (A review of Hanna)

Joe Wright directs with great skill, like everything he does, but loses some of its dramatic essence, except in some scenes. Saoirse Ronan delivers a perfect performance, expected no less. The supporting cast bring the film very well, but the film is of Saoirse. The script wasn't good, but the film has an interesting story but lacked depth, which is the stronger of Joe. The film could have been better if there had been more footage, a further deepening in the character Hanna. When finishing the movie, I had the impression of watching a movie well directed, with a great soundtrack, brilliant performance (Saoirse), photo with some beautiful moments, but in the whole work becomes just watchable, doesn't let passion. I think the big mistake of the film is Joe having been away from what he does best: drama. It's not that dramas are better, but drama is the strength of Joe, and go to another field doesn't set the tone I needed. Movie valid, but so far away from the epics and forever loved "Pride and Prejudice" and "Atonement" that disappoints.

I, Robot review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:24 (A review of I, Robot)

The highest point of the film is undoubtedly the script. Balconies with super smart and well-constructed dialogue, the film shows the writers' job well done. And what scene is that one of the blink at the end? Genial. Will Smith's character takes a lot to be charismatic. In the first 30 minutes I started to say that was such a big mistake to choose him as the protagonist of the film. I was wrong, he shows his past and his psychological construction gets well structured. Charismatic yes, but could be better. I, Robot is one of the best movies set in the future. Chicago of 2035 was extremely realistic, though. Moreover, another defect of the film is the merchandising. How did Converse pay for that exhibition of All-Star? And the Audi logo appearing all the time? To me it doesn't seem coincidental that the main robot is named Sonny. Even with two N's, it is worth remembering that in U.S. the name is only pronounced, not written. It may sound conspiracy theory, but I found relevant. Apart from some minimal defects, "I, Robot" is a good movie. Those kind that you get a good feeling after watching it.

Red Riding Hood review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:23 (A review of Red Riding Hood)

A good movie and that surprised and impressed me greatly. Didn’t expect it to be that good. At first I was interested by the proposal, and the trailer gave me even more enthusiasm to see this movie. I concluded deeply I was right about this movie. The people whose more criticize this film are filled with prejudice to the last strand of hair. Hardwicke made a bad movie? Yes, Twilight. But nobody can condemn it for life for this mistake and its consequences. Hardwicke went very well, created a tense atmosphere for a full history mysteries that bind you to the end of the film. Photography, scenery, beautiful costumes! Although the movie develops little information with some racing scenes in the early, plot’s development wasn’t harmed. The film has all the items to be wonderful, but the need for censorship by the lowest grossing prevented most powerful scenes. Also lacked some of the best performances. Apart from that, the movie is a worth seen! Worth watching again and I am going to watch it whenever I want. It’s time to mature the ideas and know how to differentiate the tastes, drop prejudices and learn how to identify what’s good. Taste is taste, but the reviews I read on some sites aren’t what has been taken into account … or quality.

I Am Legend review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:23 (A review of I Am Legend)

A nice movie. Will Smith can handle with the task of "bringing the movie back and forth." Charismatic and with easiness to take the audience to feel empathy for the actor, brings the movie a watchable story, a road median, a satisfactory performance of the 'ubiquitous' in the film. Something missing from the movie to surprise him (to my eyes). It has a good start giving introduction to the theme early on, bits of action with the suspense surrounding the film from beginning till the end, and this order and unsatisfactory, rushed ending, very busy, badly exploited. What a beautiful and excellent post-apocalyptic scenario, a relationship of 'the dog is man's best friend' beautiful to see, nice to be assisted. Few speeches in the film, which generates more attention to facial expressions that the actor brings in a rather peculiar scenes, showing how the man is afraid of being alone. The desperation of loneliness. When this happens, imagination and creativity arises resulting in comic scenes. It is noteworthy that the soundtrack was well introduced in the dialogues. But suddenly puff. The film slows down, something has changed in the course, and lost the harmony we had on the beginning. A suspenseful drama, tried to escape the cliché but was unsuccessful. Alice Braga could have been easily replaced by a dummy, no emotion added by the character in the film. Left to be desired, expected more. Less is more, a little "overrated."

I Know Who Killed Me review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:22 (A review of I Know Who Killed Me)

You need to pay attention to the smallest detail to be able to understand the movie. It is very confusing and sometimes very awkward. The story is understandable however is weak, what reward are the steamy Lindsay Lohan's scenes. From bad, the movie becomes good. I have a few chances, but whatever. Lindsay would not have a twin sister, she keeps the whole story in mind, so that she can not feel pain. I read this somewhere and I adopted this hypothesis as well.

The Queen review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:21 (A review of The Queen)

Indeed, the film is almost all of Helen Mirren, perfect in the role of Queen Elizabeth II. The rest stays average. A story already known to the general public, because it is based on real facts well documented at the time. Personally, I really like the director Stephen Frears, but this is not one of his best work. It is worth it to know all about the personality of one of the most famous monarchs of the past decades, sovereign facade of the English monarchy. It really is an odd figure, compassionate through a poor animal slaughtered during a game, but unable to surrender to the greater popularity of the charismatic Princess Diana, all because of the vanity of the royal family, whose still didn't realize that their time changed.

My Soul to Take review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:21 (A review of My Soul to Take)

With a very interesting theme, developed till a part of the film correctly, but almost vanished at the end. Bug is an extremely cute guy, whose gives you the idea of the most innocent person in the world and that further ahead if it makes us rethink is so innocent. The main idea is quite different, multiple souls instead of multiple personalities with a touch of mystical and supernatural to spice up the story had everything to be perfect, but with the progress the plot began to seem too predictable and almost half of the film, as gives notice to the entire plot of intrigue, which makes them lose all the suspense and grace of figure that out in the end. In short, it's a good movie, could have been better if directed it better, really disappointed with Wes Craven.

The Sweetest Thing review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:21 (A review of The Sweetest Thing)

Funny. Acid. Some hilarious scenes. A good movie to laugh with friends, and obviously when you have no restrictions. It was a little forced in some scenes however it has made history in reverse, since usually in the movies who apears is the guy 'chicken' who falls in and runs back and this time the girl is who made everything.

Vanishing On 7th Street review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:20 (A review of Vanishing On 7th Street)

I found an interesting movie with an interesting idea, good soundtrack that leaves the film with a tense atmosphere and that is good and the actors were good, I mean, was supposed to succeed if the director and writer were not idiots, but was poorly done, bad script and what the hell was that end? I could not take that final "Knowing", by the way I hate that. Anyway, it wasn't well developed, still haven't found the movie totally bad, as I've seen before in blogs, the film has its charm, its strengths.
