Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:09 (A review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1)

In this, Kloves could make a great script that appeals both fans whose worry too much about fidelity to the book about the fans who prefer a movie that flows well (like me). Yates proves to be the best director of the saga, and hits in all scenes, including creating beautiful scenes like the dance between Harry and Hermione and when Harry visits the grave of his parents, scary scenes like the house of Bathilda Bagshot and great action scenes like the battle of the seven Potters. In terms of performances, it's also the best one. Radcliffe finally shows a nice dramatic flair, Grint won't disappoint those scenes (and still shows its good comic timing). However the highlight of the trio goes all the way to Emma Watson, as her character Hermione also gets an interesting highlight in this chapter because it is the best in magic, it is she who takes care of Harry and Ron on the journey in search of the Horcruxes. And Emma doesn't disappoint, delivering a fantastic performance (the scene in which it erases the memory of their parents is one of the most beautiful of the saga for sure, thanks to her acting). The older actors do not appear much in this, since the movie focuses on the trio most of the time, but it doesn't disappoint in small moments in the scene (as always Raplh Fiennes as Voldemort is fantastic). Technically, is not the best of the series but is one of. The visual effects, Oscar nominations, although they are well used, are way far from being very realistic (the Chamber of Secrets, Dobby, was better than the new and the Prisoner of Azkaban, dementors, were much more realistic). The art director Stuart Craig has always been perfect, and that, even without the backdrop of Hogwarts, is still very good (the landscapes are gorgeous, and some scenes of destruction are great), deservedly nominated for an Oscar as well. The photograph although not as good as the Half-Blood Prince, is beautiful. But the coach will focus entirely on the soundtrack of Desplat. Many fans were calling for the return of Williams for the final chapters of HP, and I can say it was good he didn't return. Williams could hardly write a novel as beautiful as that Desplat composed. Besides beautiful tracks, Desplat also appears to be able to create good tracks for scenes of action and horror.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:09 (A review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince)

The most hated movie by most fans of HP, because it was unfaithful through the book. However this is by far the greatest success of Half-Blood Prince. Although it has cut some important memories and said little about the Horcruxes, the greater freedom in adapting that Kloves had ended up making this the best film in the saga (until he came Deathly Hallows, of course). Yates has also improved a LOT, and achieves good moments of humor and manages to emote in some scenes. The performances are very good this young. Radcliffe shows good comic timing, and Grint. And Emma Watson makes a beautiful performance here. The adult cast, as always, is wonderful. Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter and Jim Broadbent are simply fantastic. Great visual effects (the second best of the series), a beautiful photograph and a wonderful soundtrack make this one of the best technically as well.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:09 (A review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

I consider the great number of different views in relation to the movie, some people say that this is the best of the franchise, others claim standing beside it was the worst, we also compared the book, and some think that this was the best adaptation ever achieved even if the book is a bit drab, others think the book is the best, and that adaptation was the worst, finally, the most varied opinions, this is great. Another important thing is the new director, David Yates, who will close this saga, the last being the division of the seventh book. Some dislike it, hated the choice, they argue that the return of Alfonso Cuaron would have been a better choice, do not know the reasons for this has not been done but we agree with that thought. Want to know what to think of it? Wonderful, this means that Harry Potter, even in his fifth film, has the chops to stay in front, with people debating its positive and negative, it just proves the success of the series. The most interesting is that it will continue delighting every fan spread across the planet, each person, like me, who believe that Harry Potter is not just a passing fad, and that is very, very much further.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:06 (A review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

So many things to comment on this movie, I'll hold me in two, one is the soundtrack, since I failed to mention the three previous films, and I love so much. We also have a change of director, this being the first Briton to take the saga. Talking about the soundtrack, I love that John Williams did, but this film surpasses it be so... The arrival of Patrick Doyle has only increased my devotion, I confess that this change was great, John Williams was great, but there was something missing... What about Mike Newell, the first Briton to direct a film of the Harry Potter saga, a good choice, everything works, the rush is visible, noting that the possibility of division into two movies, the book is huge, had already been contemplated in with various things out in the book that only you can find the answers. Even so, Mike Newell managed to hold the bar, showing all that should be showing the Quidditch World Cup, Triwizard Tournament, the Yule Ball and the return of the Dark Lord, despite the ludicrous speed, I was thrilled with everything, everything, every Following is wonderful! The big problem is the same speed, should have more time each event of this magnitude. And if he had abused a little more time, he took the place still held by the Prisoner of Azkaban, the best film ever made.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:05 (A review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)

This and the Goblet of Fire are unique in the saga. Both were directed by directors who didn't make any other drive then. What made them both very different from the others, that here was a great result! The most bucolic of the saga, the best performance of John Williams soundtrack (especially the beautiful Buckbeak's Flight) and the cast far more grown up. A little heavy, this film begins the process of maturation of both the characters and the fans, which may even scare some parents off guard, but the unique beauty of this unique film saga makes it worth taking a chance on him. Cuaron's direction has improved a lot and the course of the series. The director has several moments of great creativity throughout the film. Most infidelity script from the book than the first two films also helped a lot to the improvement of the series, since this was much less tiring than its predecessors. The junior improved performances (Rupert Grint decreases in the faces), but Radcliffe, disappointing especially in the scene where he discovers a secret about Sirius Black and starts crying (pathetic performance in this scene). Technically also represented a major advance. This movie has the best visual effects for the whole saga. The Buckbeak, the Dementors, the Animagi and werewolf are just fantastic. In addition, the trail of John Williams is the better of him in the series (Buckbeak's Flight is wonderful). There is also a beautiful photograph.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 12:04 (A review of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)

Chris Columbus has pledged to make adjustments faithful to the books, and succeeded. Reading the book makes us see the movie the way it is. But adaptation of the second was very long, less than the first child, and to me that climate was not "magic" and the incredible first. It is very good, very faithful to the book, shows the beginning of the ripening of the series (even very lightly). When you take the second and sixth films, see how the saga changed the face. And he feels a twinge of nostalgia. However, is by far the weakest of the series. And the problem is the same as in Stone, the script, that's so true to the book it becomes extremely tedious as the movie. And what makes it weaker than the first is that the magic in this direction from Columbus disappears almost completely. The film continues with good performances and great junior adults. Again a beautiful soundtrack Williams, and the effects a little better over the first.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:53 (A review of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001))

The lack of discernment between the boundaries by literature and the cinema compromises part of the movie, which seems oddly limited and unimaginative in a universe that is just the opposite. Chris Columbus, with a monstrous technical department, prepares the magical world beautifully, however fills the air. The scenes seem a succession of sketches made strategically to put the narrative in motion, without any soul or your driving style. The soundtrack by John Williams, however, besides having a theme already unforgettable simply creates beside the photograph the whole mood and atmosphere of Hogwarts. As a product, is a beautiful film and well done, but it suffers from the absence of a different taste and own something that is only acquired later along the saga goes on.

Tormented review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:52 (A review of Tormented)

After seeing the movie, I understand why so many positive reviews the film. Unlike other British films that propose to make Horror Comedy launched, as Doghouse or lesbian vampire killers, Tormented is a film that shows, in addition to scenes of blood and suspense, a story, a real reason for all that is happening, and still have on his antagonist, not a simple desire for blood or vengeance imbecile, but a real reason for doing what he did, and to successfully destroy the lives of all those who have done evil, either killing them or incriminating, as he did Justine, the protagonist of the film. Well-written screenplay, young actors who do not fall short in their performances, a gripping story from beginning to end. I recommend!

The Sea Inside review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:51 (A review of The Sea Inside)

"Mar adentro" is a movie through touch on the innermost hearts. I'ts not just any story that makes us reflect on the validity of our own lives. And for the construction of the message are added to the powers of the director, actors, soundtrack, assembly and photography. Amenรกbar is an extraordinary filmmaker. He could really force the emotions of those watching through primary devices that Hollywood is still trying to use (and that Spielberg, for example, dominates like nobody). Instead, he lets the emotional potential of the situations portrayed itself excites the viewer, producing true feelings. Much of it by Javier Badem delivers his best performance in his career. In that sense, what won me over was the fact that Ramon, his character was, at least in the film, an amazing person. Their speeches denouncing a tremendous sobriety and a realistic science of what it means dignity. It is impossible not to empathize with the subject. "The Sea Inside" is a story truly worthy of being known. If I had the opportunity to speak with Ramon, I'd say, "Ramon, friend, I support your decision."

Burlesque review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:50 (A review of Burlesque)

I swear I've been almost taken by preconcept before seeing the movie, but I pressed to see it because when I saw the trailer, months ago, I felt the movie would be book. Glad I believed on my feeling. Inside of the musical's proposal, the movie is great. Christina looks good, not only singing, but she's unrecognizable as character Ali. Cher is okay, as always. The production is faultless and the performances makes anyone to get chills indeed. Of course there are some things that aren't that good, the drama could have been a little more elaborated and some cliche moments could be avoided, but nothing that compremets the movie for complete.
