A Tale of Two Sisters (2003) review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:50 (A review of A Tale of Two Sisters (2003))

The film risks a typical basic structure of the drama (the initial time to engage with the characters, and then walk the last of the story, as with the audience caring about what they are seeing). But the result was a flop, since all the first time in connection with the characters is undermined by horror without rhythm and just sprinkled in are mostly long shots, trying to build an atmosphere of tension, however end up leading to frustration. though the picture is beautiful, there are small moments of glory and the eruption of information at the end of the film quench doubts, the final feeling isn't as above average.

The Proposal review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:49 (A review of The Proposal)

The proposal is a good recipe for romantic comedy, there is no big novelties, but there are peculiarities in this very funny and interesting movie! Although I am not fan of Bullock, she's a good actress! I haven’t seen nothing extraordinary in the film even in Sandra Bullock. However, even I think her performance through cliché, as compared to other romantic comedies that she has done it, she seemed more mature screen and the chemistry between the two actors on the scene was perfect! And I really liked the movie.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 31 August 2011 11:46 (A review of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas)

Beautiful and scary, at the same time. Actually, only for the fact of making films about fictional events in 2nd War became something cult. Even up to quite tiring. But what to say about this production in particular, among many others of the genre? First, it's curious that a film based on a book has only 90 minutes long. But this is not something that points the lack of content or material. On the contrary. There are movies that can perfectly flush this out and just The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas achieves that success. The film primarily deals with the innocence of a child, and this can be modeled as negatively in the wrong hands. And the narrative axis has support precisely in fraternal relationship between the boys, both in extremely opposite but at the same time demonstrating profound ignorance of everything that is happening. And of course, not unworthy of the supporting cast, which is a rather considerable, as can be seen with the judel Pavel, showing fear and constant insecurity. We have one final daring by today's standards, but that is precisely what generates all the impact on the viewer (yes, all), so that a passing sensation of pain, both physical and mental. Even though it is fictional, it does point out all the humiliation and brutality that millions of Jews suffered.

Let Me In review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:19 (A review of Let Me In)

I'm happy with that remake. Logically, the original is perfect and irreplaceable. However, the american version could produce a great movie. Bringing the same elements with some modifications, we have the new lonely and persecuted Owen by fellow high school. By the way those scenes were great. And the new Abby, interpreted by adorable Chloe Moretz, who I adore, could fulfill the role and show us the reclusive vampire trapped forever in the body of a child under 12. I loved their scenes, but couldn't how not to remembering the original, more quaint and charming. I think the scenes with special effects weren't very pleasing, but it comes as a differential for those who like. Had something like that in Swedish version? I don't remember. So that's it. As much as remakes are made for the sole purpose of making money on something that was successful. "Let Me In", stands out as a film well done, and it deserves to be seen and appreciated. Enjoy the new version, it is great.

Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:19 (A review of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown)

This movie certainly represents progresses in many of the most interesting aspects of Almodóvar's earlier works, the radical subjectivity of feelings, emotions and the exaggeration of strange mix of melodrama and comedy. Misunderstandings and confusion, as well as situations of vaudeville make the movie look like a comic farce, but firm touch of Almodovar's gift to make things different, with its exaltation of kitsch, gaudy colors and hyperbole.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:17 (A review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader)

It's a good movie, nothing at all though. The story is cool but doesn't develops that much, and in my opinion if it weren't for the cool most nagging character I've ever seen in movies, Eustace, which at the principle he's a dumb and you wish him to die on the first seconds that he appeared but then he's the responsible for the big moments of the film, fairly for that said that if wasn't for him, the movie would been even more boring to watch. The special effects are good, in 2D, the 3D really left much to desire, the performances are average such as in the previous movies, they're good. Anyway, it's a good movie, but it is very warm, better than the second movie and much lower than the first.

Forrest Gump review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:16 (A review of Forrest Gump)

Beautiful, charming, a ironic and fantastic story told with big passion, a script which verge the surreal, but does the retract of a charismatic character, a anti-hero with charisma of a hero, a story which bring us to get enamored by the meter of the story. And the soundtrack? Damn straight, really flawless! A movie with Doors' music in the soundtrack already deserves my respect, and plus more than one, really impressive. Tom Hanks, really, embodies the character so exceptional! Very well directed too, might say in passing. I can't believe that I took so long to watch this film. I didn't know what I was losing. This movie is one of those which makes me remember why do I love so much movies.

P.S. I Love You review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:16 (A review of P.S. I Love You)

My most favorite romantic chick flick the last two years!! What makes this movie so great is if you have no expectation. Because of reviews and not thinking Hilary Swank could pull off romantic made this movie shine. She pulls it off and the movie is way better than the reviews. Tear Jerker! The shining happy moments are definitely the comedy relief Harry Connick Jr. brings. He is good in this movie... sexy... charming and hilarious. This movie has a great ending and just is so beautiful. I read half the book and wow, the movie makes the book look bad. The movie is better than the book! Now I love seeing girly movies, mostly they have disappointed me or been just okay. This one was better than all the rest.

Alice in Wonderland review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:15 (A review of Alice in Wonderland)

Alice in Wonderland is a very excellent movie. The movie passed without me blinking, there was no dull moment what so ever. By the time it reached signs of the "end" I asked myself, has it been 5 minutes yet? The movie puts you in a very interesting world with strange places and characters. The music in this film was the best music I've heard in a movie in a long time. The acting was amusing and little details about the characters' personalities was made in a very smart fashion that will keep you entertained through out the movie. I give Alice in Wonderland a 6 or 7 for all the fun that I had watching it, I wished it was 1 hour longer.

Black Christmas review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 11:08 (A review of Black Christmas)

There's been a lot of negativity about this movie, I never saw the original but I did think this film looked interesting after watching the trailer. Basically, this film is pure fun, it won't win any awards but it is enjoyable. It isn't scary but the over the top kills and gore make this film enjoyable to watch with friends. The acting is pretty good and the film tries it's best to establish each character before the main bloodshed begins. I'd say my favourite characters were Melissa and Lauren, I like Melissa because of her loyalty and i liked Lauren because she had cracking lines. One of the bad things about this film is the slightly repetitive kills, OKAY! we get you like eyeballs!!!!! but i won't go to much detail here. One of the things the film did well was making you grow somewhat attached to the characters (apart from Kelli, she was just bland). Overall I'd say, go to this film if you like slasher films but don't go expecting a masterpiece. But for what it is, i thought it was a blast to watch, especially with a group of friends.
