Sorority Row review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:55 (A review of Sorority Row)

This movie has enough frights & thrills to make you jump multiple times, but it's not just that that makes the movie for me. What makes this film different from all of the recent mediocre horror films is that it is very much character and dialogue driven. The characters become as compelling as the plot itself and you actually find yourself starting to care about these characters. The dialogue shoots back and forth between the characters and further builds up the suspense until the final revelation. The suspense is very well drawn-out - it doesn't reveal the killer too early and it doesn't make you impatient for the end. The resulting finale is a big bang and not disappointing at all. The acting was also a cut above the rest - I didn't cringe at the lame screams or badly-acted terrified facial expressions because there weren't any. Kudos to all the girls because they gave performances beyond what I expected would be given. This movie doesn't deserve any awards, because it doesn't want any. Thinking about this movie is useless; if you want a movie that makes you think then go catch Inglorious Basterds. This film is meant to entertain, and entertain it did. It's what most horror films today should be. This movie has set a standard which all subsequent horror films (especially teen horrors) should follow. Just let yourself be drawn in instead of attempting to guess who the killer is and ruining the experience for yourself. If you just go in with a blank mind and just leave all you doubts at the door you will enjoy it as it is and not blame it for being what it's not afterwards.

House of Wax review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:54 (A review of House of Wax)

Seriously, I don’t figure out the so much hate for this movie! People exaggerate only for Paris’ presence at the cast, yes she’s dumb and we’re saying that performing it’s not her best, but on this movie she interpreted well the character, and you wanna know why? Coz she interprets a tipic teenager of those horror movies, pretty, nasty and stupid, so it wasn’t that hard for her. What I love most on this movie is that it takes so long to start the killings, that is, it takes a while to get used to the characters, but they can at least to me, create a connection with the audience (Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murrays and Jared Padalecki) The House Of Wax also contains violence, blood, and a little of suspense, the set is really scary, the abandoned village and the people’s wax are really realistic, and the museum done only of wax it’s amazing, the death scene of Page and Wade "waxed" and only the eyes moving and other scenes deserve credit because it proves that it isn’t just a "teen movie" and the two brothers (bad guys) are cruel and a bit scary!
Finally, I believe the movie is not an award worthy, but is more worthy of terror, and is certainly watchable!

Confessions of a Shopaholic review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:53 (A review of Confessions of a Shopaholic)

If you know how to use your eyes is a good film which critics the rampant consumerism of capitalist society, talking like a heavy thing, but the movie brings reflection in a cheerful and humorous! Super Hollywood, but really liked it! A movie really interesting to see while the world is undergoing a financial crisis. A movie that besides being very funny, makes us think a little about the real value of things, consumer goods considered, perhaps, futile... and rethink this a bit absurd consumerism and publicist who are bombing targets daily.

Dear John review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:52 (A review of Dear John)

I waited so long for watching this movie, I have seen the trailer and I was almost dying desperately. A romance to shine the most romantic and dazzled eyes. But like all good love story, there are conditions and circumstances that ultimately discourage them. And And in an era where everything is backed by advanced technology, the couple rescues the late media of years ago: Letters. Yes, and that nostalgic feeling we get! See them exchanging pretty words in letters of truth is almost an homage to the envelope sheet and pen! And it sounds much more romantic. His relationship with his father was extremely well developed in the film. I found even more exciting John's relationship with her father than with Savannah, who finished without nexus. Romance never gets old. This is fact and what makes the day more fun. Exciting because we are always thinking of someone. That’s why 'Dear John' can captivate us, even though some details that somehow extends the movie in both points that could end with a happy ending, how sad. Since reality doesn’t always proves to be the beauty that we all want it to be. Incidentally, the film manages to capture the reality of events, focusing on an imperfect relationship for both of their lives, as can be held close together, making them feel full for true love. However, obstacles and problems leads us against what we think of the loved one as a defect. With these disagreements that events captured by director Lasse Hallström takes us on a hot imagination of relationships that are always in full adjustment, even though somehow we need to live hard to determine our life on the professional side. Finally, with a beautiful and imperfect story of a couple noticeably perfect, there's also what really upsets in the film. A retracted friendship between father and son being hampered by problems that time only grows when it comes to autism. That is undoubtedly a positive result in the plot. Who never woke up and missed anyone? Wherever she is, we should love and fight for this love. Regardless of time or trouble to make it happen. Even more in a epoch where everything has become easier for both men and women. However, there is much less price and value for those who live a true story of love with the person you meet. Valuable option of the genre, with good performances of Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried and especially the brilliant Richard Thomas who is great in their participation. Some imperfections are tolerable for the final outcome of the movie.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:52 (A review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

The best example that for to make laugh doesn’t need of a big idea or of a preposterous story, the movie brings the old cliché of the hellish life of the boy sought popularity at the beginning of student life. And even like that brings new jokes, makes us roll with laughter and leaves us entertained throughout history. Very good, it worths checking out, not a movie that will stay in your memory forever, but fun is guaranteed without generic, without forcing, without copying, just good old comedy.

To Save a Life review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:51 (A review of To Save a Life)

It’s incredible! It touched me enough! I think even the human isn’t christian should try to deviate a little of futil things and superficials, and look to your approaching. Today’s he needs help, but tomorrow can be you. The important is not to omit. If you could do something on someone’s life, do it! The message the movie transmits is, merely, fantastic. It doesn’t matter if we are christians or atheist, what really matters is try to make always the right. This movie can help people "upset with life" see that everyone has problems!! No matter how hard they are...We just hav to learn how to deal with them!! I also think that this movie make us think deeply about life, our lives...

The Kids Are All Right review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:50 (A review of The Kids Are All Right)

The movie has a great soundtrack and good performances. There is a movie that doesn't appeal for the social conscience and which treats lesbians and gays as humans and no as people that are looked with other eyes. It's a original and truthful movie. And it doesn't want to treat of the theme of "Homosexualism" and yes of familiar relationship and the ripeness of people there. It doesn't has extraordinary performances. All are only okay! Forming one of the best cast of the year. A great movie, with that appeal that I hoped listen, blah blah blah of "we must accept gays" but I didn't see like that.

Winter's Bone review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:50 (A review of Winter's Bone)

Very strange movie, people are really strange, weird people, barely seen, the place is also very strange, must be horrible to live in a place like this, especially with so many problems like the protagonist. She is a great actress, it gives a lot of penalty see all the suffering, makes you want to get her to care for and give a lot of affection, the film has a heavy atmosphere, cruel, hard, life is very unfair to some, The movie is pretty slow, but I also think that the movie does not nothing, is so incredible so far as to gain as much attention and winning an Oscar for example, is a sad and sentimental movie but after all is a good movie.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:49 (A review of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian)

Til now is the worser of the saga, Prince Caspian it's a interessant character that lead the chapter very well, left aside, the monotonous side of the first one though. Besides that the movie keep the grace level at technique questions and work very well as family movie. It might not have all the magic of the first, but at question of special effects it's much better, the characters are less understanding and the battles are epic.

Devil review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2011 10:46 (A review of Devil)

Look, with the proposal of including five actors in a elevator, could have been better. I think it would be nice if they explored a little bit the life of each one character, their mistakes, and etc. One thing more dramatic thrilling. Perhaps even really a little scary. Even with the little case with horror movies, I think that when properly treated, the results are gratifying. Well, for what could have been left much to be desired. Too bad.
